Amsterdam graffiti subway around 1992. (sorry for the bad quality) Some call it a crime, but then it is the most beautiful 'crime' on earth. Open for all people, no matter if your a good' or bad' artist, young or old. Seeing the city walls and subs as one big gallery free for all to join in and participate. It is a pure form of art' outside the artworld. I always found it a warm welcome (first time, I rolled by the subway as a little kid I was screaming of joy when I saw all the colors..didn't even know then what it was..yust knew I liked it. A lot of people can be 'angry at this but they shouldnt take it that hard..it is mostly done with 'love, even the so called (ugly) tags wich are sometimes yust as beautiful as a colourful wall btw..yust have to see, feel the beauty of some of the calligraphy, the breaking' of the greyness, the rhythm in it..When I see all these colors, pieces, names, cartoons, characters etc I feel the city is alive and not a boring, grey, even decadent! place as they are now trying to make most european cities. They clean walls, beautiful murals, even places that were legal to paint for decades spending millions on this nonsense while they' also claim we are in a crises..is it a way to create jobs lol? Graffiti at least doesnt exclude people like almost all other artforms, insitutions etc do..every person or kid can paint in this 'free world' even if it doesnt have much skills yet..it at least has the freedom to try and express itself. So people ...
